i want a new email address but i want to cancel my existing one.

You can delete the account two ways. The first is not to log in for 4 months and Yahoo! will deactivate due to non-usage.

The second way you need to use a link. Make sure to read the link thoroughly. You are closing more than your e-mail account. Once you delete the account you will not be able to recover your account account. You will need to click the "Account Deletion" and then enter your password. go here and go down on the page where it says account deletion and it will ask if u are sure just click yes and put in the code and there ya go
