This email stated it was from Yahoo international and they award these prizes every month and I was picked this month. They ask for private information such as age, name, address, phone number etc.
Received an email from Yahoo international in London claiming I won money. Is this legitimate or a fraud?
No. There is no Yahoo! Lottery, and we would never send you information about a contest you never entered.
That’s the definition of unsolicited: you never asked for it. It showed up out of nowhere. The message probably also displays two other hallmarks of fraud emails: it appears to be official (with company logos, even links), and it demands urgent action “to claim your prize”, or something similar.
If you’ve received a message like “Final Notification: Yahoo! Mail Winner!” or “Your Email Address Has Won $XX million”, it’s a scam.
Don’t reply to the email, don’t click on any links in it, and never divulge any personal information. Instead, click Spam.
Yahoo! Mail will never request personal information in an unsolicited email.
If you get an email that looks like it’s from Yahoo! but tells you you’re the winner of a Yahoo! Lottery or other contest – and it asks you to email personal information to claim a cash prize or reward – click Spam to dispose of it. You can also report this suspicious email by going to our Abuse Form and filing a complaint. Thanks!

It's actually very easy to spoof the senders name and address that appears on an email.

Why does this happen? All of my contacts in my email addresses have suddenly gone? How do I get them back? I don't have any of them wriiten down!! Argh!!

If this doesn't get them back, check your Bulk folder every day to see if their mail to you is going there. If it is, open each one and click the icon across from From. It looks like a rolodex card with a red plus sign in it. Doing this will add them back to your address book. Do the same if you get Email from them in your In-box.

Use your SPAM filter to filter them out from your 'normal mail'. This will send the SPAM to your BULK folder, which you can look at when it's convenient, or just empty without ever looking in.
Main thing is NEVER to open any of the junk e-mails, that will alert them to the fact that they've 'caught a live one' and they'll just send even more.
It's also worth considering a good third party internet software, such as Grisoft's Internet security suite, it certainly helps to minimise the crap coming into my e-mail in-box.
As an interim measure, use the 'mark as' feature to single out unwanted mails as SPAM, that way your Yahoo account will learn what you consider to be SPAM and what you consider to be valid genuine mail, but you will need to look in internet options, and turn on your SPAM filter for that to work.

Yahoo just deleted my old account, so I had to make this one. I think they deleted it because my friend was putting inappropriate answers on yahoo answers. I had a lot of important emails saved on that account that I need. Is there any possible ways I can get those emails back?

If its an attachment, download it to ur computer or save it to ur yahoo briefcase and (after it gets downloaded to ur computer or if saved in yahoo briefcase, go to ur yahoo briefcase) and right click it and choose the option 'rename' and type out the name u want to give it.
If its a folder u created in yahoo mail-click on the word 'edit' u will find next to the word 'folders' u see above the list of folders (such as inbox etc) and then click on the 'rename' option next to the folder created by u in yahoo mail page, then type out the new name in the box which appears, and the folder created by u earlier will get the new name.
